KUMIKO, THE TREASURE HUNTER to open the 8th annual MWFF

2015 Opening Night Premiere Event
The 8th annual Mosaic World Film Festival will take place August 28th – 30th at the Nordlof Center in Rockford, IL. The evening of August 28th will host the opening night premiere event at 5:30pm, where filmmakers and festival attendees can arrive and have their picture taken on the red carpet. This reception will have bar service available thanks to Kryptonite Bar. We’re proud to announce this year’s ‘MWFF Spotlight Feature’ winner is Kumiko: The Treasure Hunter.

The Zellners’ latest film KUMIKO, THE TREASURE HUNTER starring Rinko Kikuchi premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at Sundance 2014 and internationally at the 64th Berlinale. It was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards (Best Actress and Best Director) and will be distributed by Amplify Releasing in 2015. Kumiko focuses on a Tokyo office worker (Rinko Kikuchi) who becomes obsessed with a fictional movie that she mistakes for a documentary. Fixating on a scene where stolen cash is buried in North Dakota, she travels to America to find it.

The opening night’s events will wrap-up with the official opening of the fest by MWFF Director Jerry LaBuy, including the announcement of the festival award winners and a detailed description of the weekend’s events.

Passes and tickets for the 2015 Festival
All advance online purchase tickets are full festival passes and will allow access to any of the screening programs for the entire weekend. They can be purchased online now at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1887728 for $10. Advance tickets will also be available on Friday, August 28th at the Nordlof Center box office during the event.Single day tickets are only available at the box office and cost $5.00. These tickets are available on August 29th and 30th and are good for a full day of screenings on the day purchased.
