A mysterious individual enters a saloon in a human-desolate town occupied by anthropomorphic sea creatures. He hides a secret that, if revealed, could put his life on the line. This secret becomes difficult to keep when robbers barge in. Will the individual stand by idly or will he risk it all to save the aquatic patrons?

REGIONAL FILMMAKERS SCREENING (7:00pm – 9:00pm)
I’ve been fascinated with the process and storytelling of films, especially animated ones, for as long as I can remember. As for this film in particular, I felt like creating a western style animation after being inspired by one of my storyboard assignments where we had to create a shoot-out scene. Meshing this along with some of my pre-existing characters I’ve made around the same time, and I created The Lone Angler as my capstone project.
I see filmmaking as a way of expressing oneself when words are hard but creation is innate. It also is a way to not only find an audience, but to connect with other people by enjoying aspects of a film, resonating with the message the creator is making, etc.
Making a film is a constant learning process. Even if you prepare yourself by learning every software, filming technique, or writing advice, there will still be something that you didn’t see coming that will rear its head into your production (setbacks, tech learning curves, rewrites). It’s basically rolling with the punches and finding a solution to any problems that come your way. If your film turns out not to be what you imagined in your head or is not as successful, that is perfectly okay. You can always look back, learn from your mistakes, and hopefully muster the motivation and energy to try again (I believe in you)!
There are so many films I would put under this category that I consider my comfort movies. The biggests ones I can currently think of from the top of my head include Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the Kung Fu Panda movies, Shrek, Rango, Employee of the Month (not a good movie, but the retail vibes are relatable as someone who works that job), Deadpool 2, and Coraline.
