The feature films will all be screened during the day of August 28th at the Nordlof Center in Rockford, IL. Those screenings begin at 10am and here is the lineup!
10am – Actor for Hire
Aspiring actor Jesse thinks he’s not landing parts because he’s bald. After several failed auditions he decides to cover his bald head with a wig, head back out to the auditioning chopping block and give it a fresh new go. He immediately books a small role on TV pilot ‘Between The Waves’, giving full credit to his newly discovered persona. Between juggling his personal life, which includes a cheating girlfriend and a missing roommate to keeping a grip on his career, where he accidentally befriends a heartbroken celebrity on the rise, Jesse realizes his true desire isn’t to be an actor. It’s to be a movie star. A disguise comedy about facades, persona and the friends along the way.
11:45 – Sanskiriti
Titled from the ancient Sanskrit word for heritage or culture, Sanskriti is a documentary filmed around the world, that captures the human experience in today’s technological age. Following the lives of four young adults from China, Kenya, Finland, and the USA, the film chronicles the day-to-day experiences of Millennials coming of age in the digital era. Acting as a portrait of a generation, the film celebrates human progress, and encourages re-examination of our relationships with each other, with the world around us, and with our digital devices.
1pm – Johnny Walker
A washed up Hollywood director is trapped in a remote castle by his own fears until the arrival of a mysterious woman offers him possible salvation. Inspired by Dostoevsky’s ‘Notes from the Underground’, Johnny Walker attempts to answer the burning question: Is living a long life vulgar, immoral or just plain bad manners?
