An interview with the director of Enfold: screening at the 2024 Mosaic World Film Festival.
Mysterious figures dance within a shrouded, watery world of textures. Hidden images reverberate with accompanying sounds of glass harmonica.
1. What drew you to create this film?
Developed small sketches of clothing blowing in wind. Worked on something that is revealed as the cloth moves away – hinting at a kind of forgotten thought.
2. What does filmmaking mean to you?
Filmmaking for me is animation. I think of the choreography and the timing of shapes. It is like dancing.
3. What advice would you give students or beginners that want to make films?
Always develop your own original ideas; keep pushing yourself every day.
4. What films do you watch again and again?
These animated films: “Alllegreto” by Oscar Fischinger, “Papageno” by Lotte Reiniger, and “Blinkity Blank” and “Pas de Deux” by Norman McLaren.
Thank you Steve!
